your birth might be over but your mind and body are still holding on
You’re not over your birth but you are holding things together
Therapy for women healing from traumatic birth experiences.
Hello, I’m Leah Harlan.
Hi, I’m Leah Harlan. I’m a licensed therapist, and I specialize in supporting women after difficult or traumatic birth experiences.
I’m also someone who has lived through birth trauma myself.
I know what it’s like to walk away from something that was supposed to be joyful and feel shaken, confused, or like your body didn’t get the message that it’s over. I know how hard it can be to explain that to other people—especially when everything looked “fine” on paper.
That experience is part of what led me to do this work.
Is This Birth Trauma?
You may find yourself immediately caring for your infant, without time to process fully what happened.
-
You might find yourself replaying certain moments over and over—what happened, what didn’t happen, what you wish had gone differently.
Even when you try to move on, your mind keeps going back to it.
-
You may feel more irritable, overwhelmed, or constantly “on alert,” even in situations that used to feel normal.
Your body might feel like it’s still bracing for something.
-
Even if everything turned out okay medically, you may still feel upset about how it happened.
Not being listened to or feeling powerless can leave a lasting impact.
-
You might want another child—but the thought of going through birth again brings up fear, dread, or even panic.
-
Your body might feel tense, unfamiliar, or not fully yours.
You may avoid thinking about it—or feel uncomfortable being in it.
If you’re exhausted from trying to do everything right, wondering why life feels heavier than you expected, or catching yourself thinking “what the eff is wrong with me?” after a long day — therapy can help.
Schedule a free consultation and we’ll talk about what’s going on and what support might look like for you.
You’re carrying more than anyone ever helped you process.

STEADIER DAYS
Feel calmer and more grounded in the middle of a full life.
Instead of living in constant mental overload, you begin to experience more steady moments throughout the day — clearer thinking, less spiraling, and the ability to move through challenges without feeling overwhelmed.
THE RESULTS:
Over time, many clients begin to notice…...
CONFIDENCE IN YOUR DECISIONS
Trust yourself instead of second-guessing everything.
Many high-achieving women struggle with self-doubt beneath the surface. Together we work toward building clarity, stronger boundaries, and the confidence to move through life with more certainty.
A MIND THAT CAN REST
Quiet the constant pressure to hold everything together.
Therapy can help you release the endless “shoulds,” reduce anxiety, and create space to breathe again — so your mind doesn’t feel like it’s running a marathon all the time.
JOY THAT FEELS REAL AGAIN
Reconnect with the parts of life that feel meaningful.
When anxiety and burnout lift, there’s room again for laughter, creativity, and the small moments that make life feel rich — not just manageable.
If you’re ready for things to feel different, I’d love to talk with you.
These examples reflect common experiences shared by clients, but individual results vary. Therapy is a deeply personal process, and specific outcomes are not guaranteed.
